The mother of a local high school student was fatally struck on Monday morning. After the mother dropped off her 16-year-old child at a bus stop in Starr, South Carolina, she stopped to speak to the bus driver, and then was hit by a vehicle around 6:45 am, succumbing to her injuries at the scene of the fatal pedestrian accident. At the time, two high school students occupied the bus.
According to investigators, darkness and fog contributed to the fatal pedestrian accident that claimed the life of the mother who was dropping off her child at a bus stop. Unfortunately, in some cases, motorists are unaware of the traffic laws that protect pedestrians, and the guidelines set forth regarding when a bus is stopped on the road. If a vehicle strikes a pedestrian, the victim may sustain personal injuries or even a fatality.
